Throwing or hitting the ball at high speed is a decisive factor in performance in modern overhead sports (e.g., tennis, baseball, badminton, baseball, water polo, handball). Although the maximum dynamic strength needs when throwing or hitting the ball are low, scientific literature seems to suggest that appropriate levels of maximum dynamic strength have positive effects on increasing throwing or hitting speed. The aim is to improve and maintain this aspect of strength at the expense of neural factors. Effective strength training must involve execution of the technical gesture, involving the same muscle chains, range of motion and/or stroke execution speeds.
